Two January 2026 Public Holiday Dates Confirmed: Accession Day and Al Isra’a Wal Miraj
January 15 and January 18, 2026 are now confirmed as public holidays in Oman.
January 2026 is already looking better.
Oman has officially announced two public holidays in January 2026, marking Accession Day and Al Isra’a Wal Miraj, as part of the newly approved annual holiday calendar.
Here’s how it breaks down:
Thursday, January 15, 2026
A public holiday to mark Accession Day, commemorating the anniversary of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s accession to the throne.
Sunday, January 18, 2026
A public holiday to observe Al Isra’a Wal Miraj, the Islamic occasion marking the Prophet Muhammad’s night journey and ascension.
The advance announcement comes under a new policy approved by the Council of Ministers, which aims to declare national and religious holidays ahead of time to help with planning across both the public and private sectors.
According to the Ministry of Labour, announcing holidays in advance allows businesses and institutions to organise operations more efficiently. Compensation rules for employees who are required to work on public holidays will continue to follow existing labour laws.
As usual, Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha will be announced separately based on official moon sighting.
For now, January 2026 officially comes with two fixed dates to save.
