Complete Closure of Roads to Wilayat Muttrah and Parts of Muscat Starting Today

1 April 2020

Omani citizens and residents have also been asked to stay at home and cooperate with the authorities.

The roads to the Wilayat of Muttrah have been closed off from the public by the Sultan’s Armed Forces and the Royal Oman Police. This came after the Wilayat was placed under a complete health isolation to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

The closure includes Hamriyah, Wadi Kabir, Darsait, Ruwi and its neighbouring regions, and has come into effect today and will continue until further notice.

Only vehicles such as ambulances, fuel delivery trucks, fire trucks, and other essential services will be allowed into the Wilayat.

Some areas in the capital city of Muscat have also been closed off from the public from starting today (April 1st). The closure of these areas in the Governorate of Muscat is to protect the people from the transmission of the Coronavirus.

This comes after the Sultan’s Armed Forces established control measures and checkpoints on people travelling between Governorates of Oman.

Omani citizens and residents have all been asked to stay at home and cooperate with the authorities until procedures are complete.
