Employees who work in Muscat and reside out of Muscat will no longer be allowed to enter Muscat governotate.
The Supreme Committee in charge of dealing with COVID-19 in Oman issued a decision earlier today to put Muscat governorate on lockdown starting Friday at 10 AM for a full 12 days. The decision was followed up by an interview on Oman TV with Major Mohammed bin Salam AlHashmi.
He clarified that Muscat governorate will be completely closed off from the rest of the Sultanate, and all citizens and residents will no longer be able to enter or exit Muscat governorate. An exception will be made for trucks that carry food and medical supplies.
Employees who reside outside of Muscat will not be allowed to enter Muscat governorate. If it is absolutely necessary that they go to their workplace due to the nature of their work, it would have to be arranged and co-ordinated between their establishment and the Royal Oman Police.
He pointed out that the movement between the provinces had reduced during the previous period, the ROP has however noticed that movement has gradually increased over the past 2 days. Al-Hashmi therefore called on everyone to abide and stay in their homes unless a need arises.
