Mays Motors launched the Sultanate’s first electric car, Mays iE1, on Sunday. The car was mainly funded by Oman Technology Fund, and according to officials, bookings for the first 100 vehicles have already been made.
The OMR 25,000 car can cover a distance of 500 km on a single charge, accelerate from zero to 100 km/hr in 4.9 seconds, and travel at a maximum speed of 280 km/hr.
Officials from the company said that the company expects to produce 300 cars as part of its first batch, and 600 cars over a period of five years.
