No More Exotic Pets!

8 November 2021

This comes as part of efforts to protect Oman's native species.

The Environment Authority has temporarily banned the import of wild reptiles and insects to Oman, as experts found that exotic pets could potentially harm the Sultanate’s ecosystem.

As of now, import permits for wild reptiles and insects will only be granted for scientific purposes, and for zoos.

This decision was taken after several incidents were reported of wild species that are not part of Oman’s habitat, causing a direct threat to the native species of the country.
