Hawraa

While most little girls ask for a Barbie dream house for their 5th birthday, it was clear that Hawraa was destined for a career in music when she asked for a cassette player instead. Born and raised in Muscat, the 90’s was not an ideal time to be a music lover here in Oman as there weren’t any English radio stations to tune in to. That however did not stop her from pursuing her passion as she saved all of the little allowances she got to buy her favourite CD’s and cassettes.

Moving to the United States for a few years during the early 2000’s and the availability of free hip-hop radio made Hawraa realise that she too wanted to spread that same joy and relief that she felt to others through radio someday.

She went on to study Economics at Maastricht University in the Netherlands and spent many weekends attending concerts throughout Western Europe. But despite being an economist, it was clear for her which path she was going to take when it came down to choosing a career.
