28 March 2021

Repeat violators face another RO 2000 fine and closure of their operations for one month.

The Supreme Committee for dealing with COVID-19 recently made it mandatory for travellers arriving in Oman to book hotels for quarantine strictly through the Sahala platform. He further explained that the ministry will monitor hotels and travel and tourism agencies to ensure that they comply with the Supreme Committee’s decisions.

The municipality is also attempting to minimise the financial impact of COVID-19 and has suspended tax collection from several entities till the end of December 2021: “based on the economic stimulus plan to mitigate the repercussions of the COVID-19 crisis, it has been decided to suspend the collection of the municipality tax that is collected from hotels, tourist restaurants, cinemas, amusement and entertainment centres, until the end of December 2021.”
