Get to know which groups will be exempt from having to abide by the curfew.
Major Muhammad bin Salam Al-Hashami from the Public Relations Department of the Royal Oman Police clarified last night in an interview on Oman TV that movement between governorates will be prohibited, as well as movement between wilayats and villages of the same governorate. He also explained that preventing movement or closure requires everyone’s solidarity, and that establishments must take into account the conditions of their employees, so that the time that the working day ends allows employees to make it home by curfew.
There are a few exceptions to groups who don’t have to abide by the night ban for example travelers that are arriving at the airport; they must have their travel ticket while they are traveling from the airport to their homes or vice versa, and only one person is allowed to transport travellers.
Who’s exempt?
- Trucks of three tons and above,
- Water tanks
- Tanks for transporting sewage water
- Work in factories (employees aren’t allowed outside the factory during the curfew period)
- Unloading and loading operations in factories and warehouses (employees aren’t allowed outside the factory during the curfew period)
- fuel stations on a shift system (in coordination with Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment)
- Oil fields
- Employees of public and private press and media institutions, whose work requires attending these institutions during the curfew period (Ministry of Information will provide them with a license).
