Tracy Chapman has shared her thoughts about being sampled in the past, saying she wasn't a fan of it, especially when it's without permission
Previously on Tea Time we spoke about how Nicki Minaj revealed an unreleased song called ‘Sorry’ with NAS that was sampled from Tracy Chapman’s song 1998 hit song ‘Baby Can I Hold You’.
Well Nicki also didn’t really get permission to use Tracy’s song’s melody and lyrics and that’s why it didn’t appear on Nicki’s latest album ‘Queen’. Nicki even revealed on Twitter that she asked for permission but Tracy ‘said no’.
Well now, Tracy Chapman has sued Nicki Minaj over the use of the melody and lyrics from ‘Baby Can I Hold You’.
Even though the song was pulled from Nick’s album, it’s still made its rounds on the internet.
