Watch the performance by Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminiem, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige and 50 Cent here!
It’s safe to say that the super bowl half time show has sent every millennial on a nostalgic trip; it’s as if they had gathered every living hiphop legend and asked them all to perform a show. Today’s performance marked the first time hip-hop artists were the main performers for the halftime show.
This year’s show was the third in a row to be co-produced by Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s entertainment company, which partnered with the N.F.L. in 2019 as the league struggled to repair its relationship with artists who avoided the halftime show in support of Colin Kaepernick, the former quarterback who knelt during the national anthem as a protest against police brutality and racial injustice. Eminem also knelt during his performance today and held his head in his hand after performing “Lose Yourself.”
We’ve said enough though, no words will pay homage to that performance, so see it for yourself.
