The Philippines has launched a free call initiative for its citizens working across the Middle East, including those in Oman.
Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) across the Middle East, including those living in Oman, can now access free communication services to contact their families in the Philippines.
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the activation of the ‘Libreng Tawag’ (Free Call) programme, directing telecommunications companies to waive call charges for overseas Filipino workers.
The initiative was launched in response to heightened regional uncertainties, aiming to ease the financial burden of staying connected with loved ones during a difficult period.
The programme applies to Filipinos residing in several countries across the region, including Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq and Iran.
In a social media post, President Marcos said the measure forms part of broader efforts by the Philippine government to support its citizens working abroad.
He added that the goal of the programme is to ensure overseas Filipinos can remain in contact with their families without incurring additional communication costs during this period.
