The Ministry will not recognize qualifications from these institutions for Omani students who choose to study abroad and work in Oman.
The Omani Ministry of Higher Education has released a statement saying that 18 foreign universities have been removed from their list of approved post-secondary institutions for Omani students who wish to study abroad. In it’s statement, the Ministry said that its Qualifications Equivilency and Recognition arm will no longer recognize qualifications obtained at the 18 institutions from students wishing to work in Oman.
This decision was made to the fact that their universities are considered to be fake institutions as they do not have a physical location in the US. The following are the universities:
Rocheville
University
Ashley University
American Mideast University
Newport University
Walesbridge University
Panworld University
Barrington University
Gibson University
Adam Smith University
Washington International University
American University of Professional Studies
Riverwood University
The ministry also delisted John Cabot University, which is based in Italy, due to the fact that depite its claim to be an American institution, it doesn’t have a physical location in the US.
Furthermore, the Ministry will not recognize all 2018 Master degrees from Cantebury University in the UK and 2018 Master’s degree programs in specifically Business from the Univesity of Wolverhampton in the UK.
The decision was made as a result of the qualifications having no scientific base and having been issued by non-authorized institutions in the UK.
