The Muscat Metro conversation just got real, and an official update is now on the calendar.
After years of anticipation, Muscat’s long-awaited metro project is officially back on the timeline.
Oman will announce full details of the Muscat Metro within the next two months, according to the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, His Excellency Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali. The update follows the signing of a national transport-tracking initiative, marking what officials describe as a key milestone in modernising urban mobility in the capital.
Speaking on Monday, the minister said the metro is expected to play a central role in strengthening public transport, easing traffic congestion, and supporting sustainable urban growth across Muscat.
While specific routes, timelines, and phases have yet to be revealed, the announcement window signals the most concrete progress on the project in years. Once launched, the Muscat Metro is expected to transform how people move around the city, offering a long-term solution to congestion and supporting smarter, more connected urban development.
For now, all eyes are on the next two months.
