Oman Duty Free Signs New Partnership With China Duty Free to Bring More Global Brands to Oman
The MoU was signed in Beijing during His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s state visit to China.
Oman Duty Free has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China Duty Free International Limited to strengthen cooperation in duty-free and travel retail.
The agreement was signed in Beijing on November 2, 2026, during the state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the People’s Republic of China.
The MoU was signed by Sayyid Nasr bin Badr Albusaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Duty Free, and Ms. Dou Xiaoqiong, Managing Director of China Duty Free International.
Bringing More Global Brands To Oman
The partnership aims to support the growth of Oman Duty Free’s business, attract leading international brands to the Sultanate and explore opportunities for international expansion.
Cooperation between the two companies will include sharing expertise in:
- Store operations
- Category management
- Merchandise supply
- Franchising opportunities at travel gateways
The agreement could also help Oman Duty Free strengthen its retail offering by tapping into China Duty Free International’s experience in global travel retail.
A Wider Tourism Opportunity
China Duty Free International is part of China Tourism Group, whose businesses span tourism, travel, hospitality and retail.
The group’s growing interest in Oman, together with any future partnerships or investments that follow, could also support Oman’s wider tourism ambitions.
That includes helping strengthen the Sultanate’s position as a tourism destination and potentially attracting more visitors from China.
The MoU marks another step in expanding commercial ties between Oman and China, while opening up new opportunities across travel retail, tourism and international brand partnerships.
