Oman quietly dropped 27,000 km of fresh Street View routes and yes, you can see all of it on Google Maps.
Oman just got a major digital upgrade.
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has officially launched the second phase of Oman’s Street View project in collaboration with the National Survey and Geospatial Information Authority and Google, expanding nationwide coverage and adding thousands of new locations to Google Maps.
This new phase brings full 360-degree Street View imagery across all governorates, from Musandam all the way to Dhofar, allowing users in Oman and around the world to virtually explore natural landscapes, historic sites, and modern infrastructure with just a few taps.
The expansion adds 27,000 kilometres of newly captured imagery, covering routes and landmarks that were not included in the first phase. Google’s specialised “Trekker” devices were used to capture the images throughout 2025, helping showcase areas that are often difficult to document using traditional mapping methods.
With both phases now complete, total Street View coverage across Oman has reached around 63,000 kilometres, significantly strengthening the country’s digital presence and accessibility. The project is expected to support tourism, help businesses and services become easier to locate, and give people a more detailed look at the country before they even arrive.
To explore the new imagery, users simply need to open Google Maps and enable the Street View layer in the app’s display settings.
And this isn’t the end. A third phase is planned for 2026, focusing on refreshing existing routes and keeping Oman’s Street View imagery up to date.
From road trips and travel planning to pure curiosity scrolling, Oman is now more visible than ever.
