Fake messages are circulating that pressure people to pay supposed traffic fines through suspicious links.
If you get a message telling you that you have an unpaid traffic fine and need to pay immediately, don’t rush to click the link.
Royal Oman Police has warned that a message currently being circulated is fake and is being used as part of an electronic fraud attempt.
The scam message claims that a traffic fine is unpaid and pressures the recipient to settle it within a short period to avoid possible legal action.
ROP says people should not interact with suspicious links or visit unofficial websites.
Instead, any information related to fines or police services should be checked through the official Royal Oman Police channels.
People are also being urged to report any suspicious messages or links they receive.
So if a message tries to scare you into paying a fine immediately through a random link, don’t click it and verify first.
