My name is Kiran Madhav, I am an Indian based producer and an Oman based businessman who makes movies for the Malayalam industry .

“Zayana” is a first of its kind movie, it may be the first Indo-Omani movie in history and directed by Dr.Khalid Abdul Rahim Al-Zadjali.  I am the major producer representing the Indian side of the team.

VRO: What is the Movie called?

KM: “Zayana”

VRO: Are there any Omani or Indian actors in the movie?

KM: “Zayana” is the very first Omani-Indian film collaboration in history, the team behind this project is made up of young Omanis and Indians both in the technical side and artistic side who worked together to complete this project.

The cast consists of Noura Al-Farsi, Ali Amri, Sagar, Sultan Al-Ahmed, M.R. Gopakumar, Riju Ram, Talib Mohammed Al-Balushi and more.

VRO: What is the movie about?

KM: The aim of this film is to encourage film making in Oman and also further deepen Indo-Omani relations. In the film a variety of Indian culture and heritage appears such as yoga, art forms, and ayurvedic medicine. The film shows the importance of family and the main character leaves Oman and heads to India and goes through a soul-searching journey.

“Zayana” is the story of a young Omani student who travels to Kerala for higher studies and starts working in a call centre. She, however, goes missing. Adel, her husband, goes in search of her only to face a series of obstacles.

VRO: How long will the movie be shown in Cinemas across Oman?

KM: Our movie has been screening in VOX Cinema theaters in Oman for the past 2 weeks and will be there in the coming week as well.

VRO: Is there a trailer for the movie?

VRO: How long did the movie take to make?

KM: 80 % of the shooting was done in India and also in some civilian restricted areas of the Ponmudi jungle in India which helped us get some amazing shots and rest 20% in Muscat province. Even the post-production was done in India.

Altogether the movie took almost one year to complete because we faced lots of hurdles and lag because its a multi-lingual movie .
